On Thursday, we watch The Good Place. But also Superstore returns, The Walking Dead teases, and Station 19 does that thing it do.
JASON’S PICK:
Superstore [NBC, 8p]
Welp, they did it. The writers of the box store-set comedy inexorably crossed that dangerous will-they-or-won’t-they Rubicon as Amy and Josh were caught in flagrante on Cloud 9 cameras. Can the show keep up its pace after the tension has been cut? We start to find out as season 4 begins tonight with Amy and Josh returning from their respective suspensions.
FIONA’S PICK:
Station 19 [ABC, 9p]
It’s the season premiere! They left us on a serious cliffhanger last season, with the team fighting a raging fire in a skyscraper. It looks like everyone is about to die which naturally means that someone will die, but it will be the person we least suspect. I see you Shondaland.
KATHERINE’S PICK:
The Good Place [NBC, 8:30p]
Michael’s grand plan hits a snag, causing him to take drastic measures. Be careful, Michael! Souls are in the balance!
ALSO ON TAP TONIGHT:
- It still had to shake off its sitcom cliche crutches in its preview episodes on NBC last month, but I Feel Bad‘s premise and appealing lead and supporting cast hold plenty promise.
- As with its original run, Murphy Brown‘s revival on CBS takes place in our universe and skewers (mostly) the Republicans in charge. Tonight, it’s press secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders turn in the barrel.
- In a land where hate-watching and obsession collide, The Walking Dead reigns, and AMC offers a sneak peek at season 9 tonight, as the slow countdown of number of living Grimes likely ticks towards zero.
