What To Watch: 02/21/2022

Morena Baccarin returns in a major network heist show which is getting some considerable buzz. An all-time NBA great turned history buff unveils his latest dig into African American’s role during wartime. The CW’s HBCU drama chooses not one but two new sports for its spinoff. It’s all in Monday’s what-to-watch.

BRAD’S PICK:
The Endgame [NBC, 10p]
Today is Endgame Day! No not the Avengers kind, but NBC’s new cat-and-mouse heist thriller. Al Fitzgerald will do anything to catch master criminal Elena Federova–who just happens to be planning a series of bank robberies in New York City.

JASON’S PICK:
Black Patriots: Heroes of the Civil War [History, 11p]
This is surely something everyone should watch, but then I’d watch host/columnist/ex-NBA’er Kareem Abdul-Jabbar talk about anything. And not just b/c of the legends I’ve heard that he honed his skills in the Inwood section of Manhattan near where I grew up.

BUT, WAIT, THERE’S MORE:

  • The CW rolls out a spinoff to one of its most popular shows. All American: Homecoming shifts the sport from football to baseball and tennis and follows Simone (Geffri Maya) as she takes the AD job at the fictional HBCU Bringston University. Meanwhile, the original All American returns for the second half of its fourth season with Spencer in danger after diving on a grenade (a metaphorical one thankfully) for teammates.
  • Two iterations of the African American-themed tattoo reality shows return, one from where the streets will make you feel brand new and the lights will inspire you, the other straight out of the land where the rep gets bigger the more punks smoked. On VH1, it’s Black Ink Crew: New York (season 10) and Black Ink Crew: Compton (season 2).
  • Back to the spinoffs–and its a posh one–Below Deck Sailing Yacht (self-explanatory) returns on Bravo for a third season.
