The return of an insouciant show about the Victorian Age, a visit of one of the world’s most renown chefs to our favorite cooking competition show, and a tribute to the man who struck the chords that make someone born in the ’70s (and many born since) quiver with the thrill of cinema.
NAVANI’S PICK:
Another Period [Comedy Central, 10p]
The only thing better than a turn of the century period show is a satirical one. The Bellcourt sisters continue working towards their dream of being rich and famous socialites without the help of social media. This could take a while.
KATHERINE’S PICK:
MasterChef [Fox, 8p]
Wolfgang Puck is tonight’s guest judge, and he’ll oversee the Mystery Box Challenge, which will lead to the 20 home cooks to create a…potato dish. Then the frazzled contestants will create one of Gordon’s dishes before they all go home in tears.
JASON’S PICK:
AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to John Williams [TNT, 10p]
Like many people roughly my age (aka “middle”), the first music I heard in a movie theater were his opening seconds of John Williams’ “Star Wars Theme,” chords I now associate with the thrill of anticipation of something truly great. No doubt he deserves this accolade from movie experts.
ALSO ON TAP TONIGHT:

- We get another look beyond the fence tonight on FOX’s Wayward Pines.
- If you want to watch a reality show about transgender lives without feeling Kardashian-style bad about yourself in the morning, check out I Am Jazz in its early second season on TLC.
- I’m just amazed this is a show: The People’s Couch on Bravo watches people who like to watch, this time it’s a bunch of Brits.
