It’s anything but a manic monday as Nasim Pedrad’s ultra-cringe (on purpose) show returns for a second season with little fanfare being the only major scripted show’s return. We’ve also got new realities from Vice, Food Network, and FYI.

JASON’S PICK:
Chad [TBS, 10p]
It’s so hard to watch, yet given that Nasim Pedrad is the star of this show set in the center of awkwardness, it’s also hard to not watch. 40-year-old Pedrad is a wholly uncool 14-year-old in this show she created. Its second season begins today.
BRAD’S PICK:
True Believers [Vice, 10p]
Cults have always captured our collective imagination, and Vice has always been a good network for picking out psyche scabs, so that makes their six-episode study of the cult phenomenon so compelling. One thing is for sure: Vice won’t pull punches on this expose. Watch with caution and wide eyes.
BUT, WAIT, THERE’S MORE:

- Affable neurotic chef Rachel Ray takes on a home-and-garden/travel show for a change. This one is on FYI where she showcases her life and her escape cottage on the new series Rachel Ray’s Italian Dream House.
- The latest Food Network show built around a pun is Bake or Break, debuting today. Essentially Bar Rescue for bakeries, the program features pastry-maker Stephanie Boswell going to a different failing business each week to see if she can help revive.
- The CMT Music Awards finally air, after a week’s delay, on CBS {shrug}. If you like modern Country music and awards shows… The Judds host, so there’s that.
