What To Watch: 10/25/2021

The unlikeliest of reboots leads off our collection of suggestions of what’s what on the teevee tonight.

JASON’S PICK:
4400 [The CW]
Gotta say, I did not see this one coming. At all. I loved the original The 4400–or at least loved to hate on its ridiculous premises from week to week. Overall, it started off with a cool premise as 4400 formerly disappeared people show up in the woods near Mt. Rainier in Washington, unaged from their last time on Earth whether gone for 5 or 50 years, bearing no idea of what happened. This time it’s a city park in which the mass of humanity is baffling deposited. While the buzz on this one is hella subdued, the premise makes it worth a shot, even if the most shocking thing in the trailer is that Outkast’s “Hey Ya!” is over 15 years old.

FIONA’S PICK:
Wakefield [Showtime, 9p]
Hypersexuality is plaguing the ward as Nik’s past continues to haunt him. Nik has an incredible talent for de-escalating situations and seems to be a great candidate for promotion, but after his brief hallucination on the train platform last week I am not so sure about his grasp on reality.

KATHERINE’S PICK:
Halloween Baking Championship [Food, 9p]:
Tonight’s finale will declare the winner of the $25,000 prize.

BUT, WAIT, THERE’S MORE:

  • Gotta give All American credit to not stretching high school on any longer than it actually goes. It’s the fourth and final season of the inspirational CW drama. Of course there will be some last minute obstacles on the road to scholarships–or whatever lies next.
  • It’s a relatively quiet Monday as the only other major (or at least major-ish) program starting or returning tonight is Below Deck. The Bravo reality show about the crew of a superyacht amazingly enters its ninth season.
