It’s a Saturday, so TV-wise, you gets what you get, and here’s what we got.

KATHERINE’S PICK:
Bel Canto [Crackle]
Ann Patchett’s acclaimed novel sees its first film adaptation, starring Julianne Moore and Ken Watanabe. Based on the Japanese embassy hostage crisis of 1996–1997 in Lima, Peru, two romantic relationships develop during a diplomatic hostage crisis. I thought it had been adapted already too, but to date it’s only been an opera (in 2015) and an episode of Archer (“Bel Panto”). The film may turn out to be a dud (especially compared to Archer), but adapting Ann Patchett is, frankly, an insurmountable challenge.
JASON’S PICK:
Saturday Night Live [NBC, 11:30p]
The Nick Jonas episode from earlier this year was not particularly memorable, but at least the host was not a reprihensible human being. Stock up on your SNL needs before next week’s ridiculous Elon Musk episode.
BUT, WAIT, THERE’S MORE:

- Lifetime’s movie of the week is Revenge Delivered. In this case, as you can probably infer from the photo above, the pun in the title has to do with babies. Obstetrician Dr. Victoria Brown suspects her newest resident is the daughter of a nemesis who wants… you guessed it: revenge!
- If you’re a fan of Return to Amish well then this might just be your favorite day as you can binge on the TLC show that is not at all exploitative as it marathons.
