What To Watch: 06/23/2020

We’ve hit a bit of a sweet(?) spot of quarantine TV with leftover original shows meeting special programming tailored to the limitations of working in separate locations. Also, streaming seems to have comedy specials to go for eons. So, like Stakka Bo, here we go!

JASON’S PICK:
Eric Andre: Legalize Everything [Netflix]
That Andre’s three major TV credits are some of the strangest live action half hours on television — Don’t Trust The B**** in Apartment 23, Man Seeking Woman, and his own Adult Swim talk show parody The Eric Andre Show — is no coincidence. To call this surreal prankster’s comic style unusual is an understatement, but there’s a certain excitement in not knowing what to expect. His first Netflix hourlong special debuts today.

BRAD’S PICK:
Celebrity Show-Off [TBS, 10p]
What do Diplo, Ja Rule, Action Bronson, Gabi Butler, Dwight Howard, Travis Kelce, NeNe Leakes, Jason Mraz, Kevin Smith, Tori Spelling, Bella Thorne, Rumer Willis, Scout Willis, and Tallulah Willis have in common? They are all on celebrity show-off. A new reality show where 5 celebrities battle it out to create a viral video. The videos are posted on TBS’s YouTube channel- the video with the most views wins.

KATHERINE’S PICK:
Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story [USA, 10p]
On tonight’s Angry Betty, Betty “goes on the offense, hurting everyone.” So her children are probably going to be upset, and this is more a big-glass-of-wine episode than a popcorn affair, but I wouldn’t miss it for anything.

ALSO ON TAP TONIGHT:

  • If you don’t know about the Oprah-approved family drama, Greenleaf, it goes into its fifth season on OWN tonight, and, as you can see, has Keith David rocking the most elegant of Fabrice Fabrice looks.
  • On this week’s non-comedian-commented-on House Hunters, a law school student wants to move to Florida… on purpose. Her mother is trying to wisely counsel her to do anything else.
  • Irritable and irascible comic Eddie Pepitone tweeted his support of women comics before getting called out himself for hostile behavior. To his credit, he apologized. In any case, the veteran standup’s newest comedy special Eddie Pepitone: For The Masses drops today on multiple formats including Amazon Prime.
