What To Watch: 04/10/2020

Bronx represent! Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joins RuPaul, Michele Visage, and the rest to help judge the eight remaining queens. Meanwhile, we have beer buddies on Netflix, and a new Simpsons short on Disney Plus.

NAVANI’S PICK:
RuPaul’s Drag Race [VH1, 9p]
This is the Yassss Queen moment I have been waiting for! My favorite congresswoman AOC and her infamous red lip joins the RuVulution tonight as a guest judge alongside Winnie Harlow. Seeing a political powerhouse come on an unapologetically queer show speaks volumes and is a moment I’m here for. You better work and VOTE!

KATHERINE’S PICK:
Brews Brothers [Netflix]
Two rival brothers struggle to keep their brewery running as “shenanigans keep foaming up their company with chaos.”

JASON’S PICK:
Maggie Simpson In “Playdate with Destiny” [Disney+]
As many stories The Simpsons have regaled us with, there will always be new tales to tell. This new OFF short has a title similar to a classic episode, “Lisa’s Date with Density,” but where that episode had Lisa in love (with Nelson Muntz), this one has baby Maggie in love. Different!

BRAD’S PICK:
Harley Quinn [DC Universe]
Harley Quinn may not have made for box office magic in Birds of Prey, but her animated adventures on the DC Universe streaming service are a sight to behold. This episode Harley and Ivy infiltrate a college to catch the Riddler. Sample line, “I have an Indigo Girls poster in need of a wall”. Something a lot of women who went to college in the ’90s can relate to.

  • Few music festivals have been made sport of as much as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (well, no successful festivals, anyway). However, watching it from home, away from the 13 dollar pizza slices and endless sweaty humanity, might not be so bad. In any case, YouTube pays tribute to its two decades of musical performances of all varieties with Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert.
  • A 17-year-old girl is brutally murdered and a group of people are accused — possibly falsely — in the latest Italian import on Netflix The Trial (original title Il Processo).
  • Selling The Big Easy — a new HGTV home sale show — brings us to New Orleans in a happier time as Brittany Picolo-Ramos and her team show off elegant mansions.
