Box Office Weekend Friday, November 8th, 2019

We get our first holiday movie this weekend with Last Christmas! Find that, and all that’s streaming, under the cut.

Better Days is a Chinese drama.

Honey Boy is a drama written by Shia LaBeouf, who plays a version of his father in this semi-autobigraphical film. Lucas Hedges and Noah Jupe star as “Otis Lort,” a child actor with a “frenetic career.” The film received universal praise during festival season.

Ballet Blanc is a horror film! Horror meets ballet!

Love Is Blind NOPE: “A woman with selective perception, who cannot see her mother, is prescribed by her psychiatrist to spend time with a suicidal man that has fallen in love with her – but she cannot see either.”

Playing with Fire stars John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo, Brianna Hildebrand, Dennis Haysbert, and Judy Greer. A crew of firefighters must care for three rambunctious kids.

Midway is about the WWII battle.

Doctor Sleep, adapted from Stephen King’s 2013 novel, and written, directed, and edited by Mike Flanagan, stars Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance, who struggles to help others with abilities like his own. That’s right, it’s a sequel to The Shining!

Last Christmas stars Emilia Clarke as an unlucky woman who takes a job as a department store elf. Her life takes an unexpected turn and she falls in love, but not with Will Ferrell’s Buddy the Elf. (It’s Henry Golding!) And yes, it’s somehow inspired by the song by Wham. What a world.
