What To Watch: 10/09/2019

It’s a big ol’ day for fans of the new tradition of taking old-timey characters updated into the gritty modern times with just a touch of noir, as the Archie-Jughead gang returns and a revamped classic teen sleuth debuts.

KATHERINE’S PICK:
Nancy Drew [The CW, 9p]
Your mom’s favorite teenage detective gets the Riverdale treatment. (That’s not fair, maybe your mom’s favorite teenage detective is Veronica Mars! I’m sure my mom loves both equally.) The first series in over 20 years (the last was a Canadian show in 1995), this iteration is co-developed and co-produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The OC and Gossip Girl); Nancy finds herself the prime suspect (and witness!) in a murder, and she and her friends must prove her innocence.

BRAD’S PICK:
Riverdale [The CW, 8p]
Archie, Jughead, and the rest are back for a new season and it is finally time to say goodbye to Like Perry’s character. It will tug at the heartstrings both because the actor and the character had a moral compass that will be sorely missed.

JASON’S PICK:
Rhythm + Flow [Netflix]
Not that we need another music competition show, but I’m intrigued by the idea of Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, and T.I. working together — well, I’m there for it!
