We here at Screen Scholars grew up on the crime side, the New York Times side, so when it’s a Wu night, can we fuc… pick with anything else?
KATHERINE’S PICK:
Wu-Tang: An American Saga [Hulu]
We may never get the ODB biopic with TK, but at least we’ll get a serious attempt at giving the Staten Island group the respect it deserves. Three episodes premiere today with the remaining seven airing weekly. Dope’s Shameik more stars as Raekwon with Moonlight’s Ashton Sanders as RZA.
BRAD’S PICK:
Wu-Tang: An American Saga [Hulu]
Wu Tang ain’t nothin’ to fuck with. They are also the subject of a biopic miniseries streaming now ok Hulu. Prepare to learn more about Staten Island than you ever wanted to know. Also expect lots of Hip Hop and Kung Fu.
JASON’S PICK:
Wu-Tang: An American Saga [Hulu]
The powers that be put together a great cast to tell the unique tale of by far the most interesting outfit in Hip-Hop history. What more needs said? Other than, of course, Wu-Tang! Wu-Tang! (etc.)
ALSO ON TAP TONIGHT:
- We have our issues here with Dog the Bounty Hunter, but he’s had the roughest of years, so we’ll just wish him the best with his new WGN series Dog’s Most Wanted, starting tonight as he says goodbye to his late wife.
- Reelz decides let’s talk about another legend we lost in recent times as one of its tentpole shows takes a look at a trailblazing comedian and, as she’s sadly known to most now, fashion critic with Joan Rivers: Behind Closed Doors.
- At this point, Princess Meghan Markle would probably be surprised to know Suits is still going strong, but it is, and the seventh episode of the ninth season, a little gem titled “Scenic Route” is on USA tonight, and it’s a road epic!
- We’ve honestly lost track of all the Real Housewives locales, but apparently Big D, little a, double l-a-s has one and its already into its fourth season. The Real Housewives of Dallas is back tonight on Bravo.
- We misread the synopsis of tonight’s Songland (on NBC) as “Charlie Puth threatens to pitch songwriters his original materials.” Not trying to be mean, but that really happened. Turns out it’s the other way around.
- Finally, FX’s Snowfall has kind of gotten lost in the chaos of so many gritty narcotics-fueled dramas, but it’s quite good if you haven’t checked it out, and tonight’s episode sounds like a crossroads and perhaps a good point to jump right in.
