Bart goes all Reddit/MensRights-y when Itchy & Scratchy‘s writers decide to give the show-within-a-show an all-female re-boot, but Nicole Byer, Akwafina, and Chelsea Paretti voice some kids who keep him in line. Meanwhile, dead keep walking, sports gambling is a fucked-up racket, and our favorite Belchers play with marionettes.
KATHERINE’S PICK:
The Simpsons [Fox, 8p]
Itchy & Scratchy gets an all-female reboot, so Bart and his lame friends boycott the show, because their childhood is ruined now. No one is watching The Simpsons anymore, so this would be a good opportunity to take on the bullshit idea of all-man everything.
BRAD’S PICK:
The Walking Dead [AMC, 9p]
It’s a rare respite as four worlds come together in truce, although don’t expect what comes after “The Calm Before” (as that’s the episode title) to wait for next week.
JASON’S PICK:
Action [Showtime, 8p]
With the lightning rise of organizations like FanDuel and DraftKings, and the legalization of sports gambling in New Jersey, suckers can lose their money at an insane pace. While a part of me is for legalization, seeing powerful forces prey on the vulnerable is disgusting. We’ll see how this four-part Showtime docu-series presents the industry as it grows and becomes more accepted.
ALSO ON TAP TONIGHT:
- One of AMC’s other shows, Into The Badlands returns as Pilgrim lays out his plan, and those who enjoy living are not going to be fans.
- We’re getting closer and closer to finding out who “wins” jade tie pin musical chairs and is the ill-fated jumper when the deliriously funny Black Monday hits its titular day.
- The hot Belcher action takes place at a marionette show, and we’ll say the Simpsons hasn’t done that. Louise annoys one of the master puppeteers (because of course she does), while Bob helps a flyer guy on Fox’s Bob’s Burgers.
