What to Watch: 11/19/2018

Intrigue, inspiration, and brilliant girls and funny women lead our Monday recommendations.

JASON’S PICK:
The Little Drummer Girl [AMC, 9p]
Not a huge Le Carre fan, but The Night Manager was admittedly quite gripping. In this one, a chance meeting between an actress and a stranger leads to intrigue in a Greek backdrop. There’s two episodes tonight on AMC, the channel who brings you this sort of thing.

FIONA’S PICK:
My Brilliant Friend [HBO, 9p]
Miss last night’s premiere? You’re in luck! HBO is airing the first episode directly before this one at 8pm. Tonight we have the second installment in the series. Elena and Lila start to diverge paths as fourth grade comes to an end and the girl’s families make decisions about their future education.

KATHERINE’S PICK:
The Mark Twain Prize: Julia-Louis Dreyfus [PBS, 9p]
JLD is this year’s recipient of the most prestigious prize in comedy. Bow down.

BRAD’S PICK:
Independent Lens: The Judge [PBS, 10p]
PBS continues highlighting the best in independent documentary film with Independent Lens. The latest episode focuses on Kholoud al-Faqih as she becomes the first woman judge appointed to the Middle East’s Shari’a (Islamic law) courts.
