What to Watch: 11/05/2018

It’s a tidy little Monday as the nation struggles with whatever tomorrow’s new truths might bring.

John Leguizamo’s Latin History For Morons [Netflix]
He can be a polarizing comic (and actor), but when he’s in the zone, he’s one of the nation’s top comics, and his Broadway shows are the epitome of his zone. Also, Election Day tomorrow and our current administration is a reminder that there are many morons who could stand to learn more about Latinxs.

The Voice [NBC, 8p]
It’s the knock outs! Last week I watched and guessed wrong on every single battle. Apparently the judges and I disagree entirely on what good singing is.

Independent Lens [PBS, 10p]
Tonight’s episode, Dawnland, examines “devastating impact of Maine’s child welfare practices on Native American communities.” Which is, essentially, the process of systematically removing children from their homes and culture.

  • While, other than Katherine’s mom, we scholars are not all above the new Magnum, P.I. But look, he’s holding a cat, and tonight’s episode does involve cats (and don’t worry, it’s just the owners who are among the murdered — whether a cat is the murderer is another story). On CBS.
  • More craziness rules the day on NBC’s Manifest as illnesses seem suspicious.
