What to Watch: 10/29/2018

Three of us recommend refined entertainment, while one of us really likes cats (you can probably guess which one is writing this feature intro).

A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years of Wicked [NBC, 10p]
I first saw Wicked when I was eight years old with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. It was magical and angsty at the same time, exactly what I needed. While my Wicked obsession has cooled over the years, I still hold it dear to my heart. I can’t wait to watch this special and see those two starts reunited (even if it’s just for hosting purposes). Hopefully my friends will put up with my singing along. I don’t think I’ll be able to stop myself!

Antiques Roadshow [PBS, 8p]
It’s a Halloween-themed show, with spooky finds and a big treat: someone’s Weird Thing is worth $350,000!

Independent Lens [PBS, 10p]
With climate change making wildfires worse, Wildland is a timely documentary that follows a firefighting team over the course of a season. Debuting tonight on PBS’ esteemed showcase.

Big Cat Tales [Animal Planet, 8p]
As someone who was distracted by the familiarly feline antics writ large of an internet domesticated lynx, I’m not missing this latest Animal Planet show about the larger members of the cat family.

  • The Detective Comics D-Team heads to 17th Century Salem, and of course, one of them is called a witch on The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
  • It’s “knockout” time on the NBC premier vocal competition showcase, The Voice.
