We’ve got one of our favorite actors (and best rapper to take its name from the Wu Tang Name Generator) hosting SNL, a major musical event, an intriguing foreign thriller on streaming, and a stalwart procedural. While it’s not a ton of options, it’s not a bad haul at all for a Saturday evening’s viewing. Side note: have you ever seen Donald Glover and tonight’s musical guest Childish Gambino in the same room? We think they might be… Donald Glover’s Superman, that’s all we’re saying.
Saturday Night Live [NBC, 11:30p]
Donald Glover hosts tonight–and it’s about damn time!–and performs (as Childish Gambino).
2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony [HBO, 8p]
Yes, this totally overblown event is absolutely absurd (as hilariously pointed out by best recent SNL host John Mulaney), but that’s exactly why to watch it. New Jersey’s second favorite sons Bon Jovi lead the pack, that also includes somewhat controversial pick Dire Straits–although, in my mind, they deserve to be there for 1981’s Making Movies alone.
ALSO ON TAP TONIGHT:
- Pig and Violetta, writer and libertine (respectively), find their lives intertwined with a danger-courting road trip north of the American border in the Mexican action-drama Diablo Guardian, whose first season streams tonight on Amazon Prime.
- Arms dealers, kidnappings, and terrorist threats–it’s all in a day’s work for Ransom on CBS.
