There’s not a ton of movies out (why with last week’s Marvel release when you compete with…something…for Memorial Day?) so let’s get to it and get to the theater!
Bad Samaritan is a thriller about a man who breaks into the wrong house. A.V. Club calls it “dopey but fun.”
The Guardians is a WWI drama about the women left to tend the farm while the men were at war. Unlike Bad Samaritan, A.V. Club does not much care for it. It’s pretty! Too bad it’s sexist.
The 12th Man is a drama starring Jonathan Rhys Myers and Thomas Gullestad. Gullestad is a man who survives an anti-nazi attack and must then survive the Nazis and the elements.
102 Not Out is an Indian comedy about two oldies living life to the fullest.
Racer and the Jailbird is a Belgian drama (Belgium’s Oscar entry!) about the love affair between a gangster and a racecar driver.
Overboard is a gender-swapped remake of the 1987 Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn comedy. Anna Faris is the working class, single mom who convinces a Latin American millionaire that the two are married.
RBG is a documentary about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Tully is a comedy written by Diablo Cody, directed by Jason Reitman, and stars Charlize Theron. Theron is a mother of three and the film is…about her friendship with her nanny.
HBO airs documentary A Dangerous Son on Monday:
Netflix releases Hari Kondabolu: Warn Your Relatives on May 8:
