Spotify and Hulu have joined forces and for a limited time, you can bundle your Hulu and Spotify Premium accounts for $10.99. Seriously though, you have to opt-in by May 10, so good luck and godspeed.
Caveat: The only eligible Hulu accounts for this deal at Limited Commercials. If your Hulu account is No Commercials or has add-ons (Live TV, HBO, Showtime), your account is not eligible. It’s easy to opt-in to the Limited Commercials, but the change in your account will take effect when your monthly billing cycle ends. You can message Hulu directly and ask nicely to cancel your account, however, and I found that Hulu support is friendly and fairly amenable. Just be clear that you want to cancel right now and not when your month is up. From there, you’ll need to sign up for Spotify Premium if you don’t have it already. If you have Hulu and Spotify Premium already, all you need to do is link your accounts.
After you merge your accounts, you’ll be billed from Spotify, as opposed to the two companies.
Spotify is calling this a savings of $4.99. I am not doing the math on whether or not I am saving money since it feels that way already (Spotify Premium is $9.99). (Spotify Premium has improved my work life. For reasons that are not clear to me, you need Spotify Premium to enjoy Spotify over Sonos.)
Please note that Spotify will receive your data from Hulu. Note that all of your data is collected, sorted, examined, and all of us are on some kind of federal list or another (and the lists I’m on don’t even make me special anymore).
But now you can take in the new season of The Handmaid’s Tale while simultaneously streaming Janelle Monae’s new album on your stereo!
