What to Watch: 02/27/2017

Great moments and conflicted humans dominate our choices for tonight’s best viewing options.

KATHERINE’S PICK:
When We Rise [ABC, 9p]
ABC’s miniseries, which Variety called “wildly uneven,” tells the story of the LGBT movement in four chapters and stars Michael K. Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell, Guy Pearce, Mary-Louise Parker, Rachel Griffiths, and Carrie Preston. Tonight’s premiere is directed by Gus Van Sant.

BRAD’S PICK:
Bates Motel [A&E, 10p]
Norman goes a date… and gets a gift from Chick. The final season of Bates Motel is shaping up to be a doozy.

JASON’S PICK:
The Obama Years: The Power of Words [Smithsonian, 8p]
Ah, to have a president who really did have tremendous words, truly the best words. It’s only been a few weeks but Smithsonian knows we need to remember. Oh, do we ever.
