Tonight, the madness begin. To directly quote a Broadway musical, send in the clowns. To paraphrase a certain TV sage of the 1990s who had a knack for entering a room in style, we are disgusted, yet we cannot look away. Although at least one or two of our editors will do just that and try to soothe ourselves with cupcakes or heavy spoofing.
Angie Tribeca [TBS, 9p]
This Rashida Jones cop spoof consistently has brought the most laughs per minute of any cop show since the days of Leslie Nielsen. This week, a boy band member goes missing as romances go awry – more so.
Cupcake Wars [Food, 8p]
The Cupcake Wars reliance on Hello Kitty meets celebrity bakers head-on, with Olympian Shawn Johnson, NeNe Leakes, Olympian Johnny Weir, and freakin Lamorne Morris. I’m in a glass cage of emotion here: I can’t stand the idea of Weir and Johnson competing against each other, but I can’t wait to see New Girl’s Morris win.
Republican National Convention [Multiple Networks, 10p]
